Logbook : of the H.M.S. Success and H.M.S. Norwich, 1754-1756.

The logbook documents the voyage of the H.M.S. Success and H.M.S. Norwich, commanded by Capt. Samuel Barrington, to Nova Scotia and Virginia. The volume contains original sketches and wash drawings, some colored, of landscape views from the water facing land; some sketches are unfinished. Most of the landscapes appear to have been drawn from the H.M.S. Norwich. Two notable views are of Yorktown and Gloucester, Virginia. The drawings are attributed to John Gauntlett.
